Sharon Margolies was born in Illinois. Raised by parents who were both artists, Sharon was acquainted with many different art mediums at an early age. She studied art at The University of Illinois and The American Academy of Art in Chicago. In 1984 she chose a different career path and two years later earned her certificate in Dental Hygiene from The University of Texas. It was in the late 1990s she returned to her true passion for creating art. When she is not working part-time as a dental hygienist, you can find her doing what she enjoys most - painting. Sharon resides in Lawrenceville, Georgia with her husband and two children.Sharon's medium of choice is pastel, although she also enjoys working in oil paint. People, pets, and landscapes are the subject matter of the artist's paintings. She continues to hone her skills through classes and workshops given by artists whose work she admires. Many of her works have been juried into local and national exhibitions. She is currently accepting portrait commissions of people and pets.
Sharon will be having her first solo show at the Gwinnett Historic Courthouse in Lawrenceville, Georgia. The exhibit will run from May 23 through August 18, 2008.
